CFA Society San Francisco's Mentorship Program is a year-long volunteer program that pairs experienced mentors with entry- and mid-level professionals in the investment industry. This program is designed to help members network and exchange ideas between professionals of varying degrees of experience. The program length is designed to give sufficient time to build trust and rapport between the mentors and protégés.
This program is not meant to be an interview platform, but rather an opportunity for mentors to impart wisdom to protégés, provide guidance to protégés who are curious about various aspects of the investment industry, and/or provide perspective to protégés considering a transition from one area of the investment industry to another.
You do not have to be a seasoned veteran to be a mentor, and you do not have to be a recent graduate to be a protégé. Due to the limited scale of the mentoring program, however, CFASF protégé applicants that are CFA charterholders will be given priority.

The CFASF Mentorship Program runs annually beginning in late spring with a required training session for all mentors and protégés. This session will provide guidelines to enable program volunteers to get the most out of the program as well as feature a mentoring coach as a guest speaker.
Each mentor-protégé pair will meet at least one hour each quarter for one-on-one discussions. Each pair will also attend at least two society or other industry events during the year. The CFASF Mentorship Program will also host a wrap-up lunch at program close out to highlight successes, lessons learned, and ideas for the next CFASF Mentoring Program year.
