Melissa Lopez, CFA
Director of Investments
The James Irvine Foundation

Ms. Lopez is responsible for the sourcing, evaluation, recommendation, and monitoring of The James Irvine Foundation's investment managers, investment opportunities, and portfolio. Prior to joining the Foundation, she was a Senior Research Analyst with Wetherby Asset Management. Previously, Melissa served as an Investment Professional at the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, Equity Research Associate at Citigroup Smith Barney, and Financial Analyst at Robertson Stephens. Melissa received a master's in business administration from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Austin. She holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. 

James W. Miller, Jr.
Managing Director, Portfolio Management 
RREEF Property Trust, Deutsche Asset Management

Mr. Miller joined RREEF's San Francisco office in 2006 and works as a the co-lead Portfolio Manager on RREEF America II a $12B Core Direct Real Estate fund. Previously he was the Portfolio Manager on RREEF America REIT III, the firm's flagship value-added fund. Mr. Miller provides strategic direction to all of the Fund's investments as part of the RREEF America REIT II team.  Mr. Miller came to RREEF with over 11 years of experience in real estate in both law and business.  Prior to joining RREEF, Mr. Miller served as an Executive Vice President in the Jones Lang LaSalle Corporate Solutions Group most recently in charge of all of Jones Lang LaSalle's transaction and investment activity on behalf of Bank of America.  Previously, Mr. Miller worked as an attorney at Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe with exclusive focus on institutional real estate acquisitions, dispositions, financings and partnerships.  Mr. Miller received his law degree from Washington & Lee University and a bachelors degree from the University of Virginia.

Stephen Perkins, CFA 
Portfolio Manager
Toronado Fund

Mr. Perkins has focused on smaller capitalization public equity investments throughout most of his 20-year career as a growth equity investor. He started his career in 1996 as an equity research associate at Robertson Stephens. He transitioned in 1998 to evaluating venture capital opportunities at the Robertson Stephen’s venture group (called Crosslink Capital since 1999).  From 2001 through 2005, he worked as an analyst at Citadel Investments and then Proteus Capital. He rejoined Crosslink as a Vice President in 2005 to focus on public growth equities.  Over the next decade he led early investments in leadership companies across many technology sectors and was also an important contributor to Crosslink’s short portfolio. His contributions were recognized by advancement to Partner in 2006, General Partner in 2009 and equity owner in 2010.  In 2013, Mr. Perkins identified the opportunity to generate significant returns with a fund leveraging his expertise in small capitalization growth technology companies.  Toronado Fund started in June 2013.  Mr. Perkins formed Toronado Partners as an independent firm April 2016. Mr. Perkins holds a bachelors degree from the University of California, Berkeley and also attended the London School of Economics. He is a CFA Charterholder and served as president of the CFA Society San Francisco.
