University Relations Committee

A large component of our membership first learned of our Society as University students during their years as finance students. Relationships with university professors and finance club presidents can expand our reach and increase membership and awareness of both our local Society offerings and the CFA brand. Volunteers in this area will help identify key-players at Bay Area Universities, and establish relationships with both students and faculty.

Projects: Finance Club Society Liaisons, Investment Research Challenge




Social Networking Committee

The CFASF Social Program Committee provides society members with safe and fun non-work related social gatherings and networking opportunities.

Projects: Book Club, Consistent Monthly Events, Civic Involvement, Hiking Club

Communities of Interest Committee

The Communities of Interest Committee offers opportunities for networking with members that share the same interests and for enhancing opportunities in the industry.

Projects: Woman CFAs, Young Professionals, Black Network, LGBTA, Veteran Outreach, Peer to Peer Roundtables, South Bay, East Bay, Financial Services Alliance.


New Members Committee

Committee responsible to assist the society new members, with to fulfill requirements as sponsorship, and to understand deeper about the membership benefits and opportunities.

Projects: Member Sponsor Pairing Program, Welcome




Marketing Committee

This Committee will source and schedule diverse content for the different CFASF social media pages and engage members to use them more frequently.

Projects: Social Media


Awareness Committee

The committee aims to raise industry members and general public awareness regarding the local society and the CFA designation, through media and key industry members.

Projects: Media Relations/Directory, Industry/Employer Outreach


Advancement Committee

The goal of this team is to generally advance the Society, the profession and our members.

Projects: Members in the News, Community Education




Career Advancement Committee

Committee responsible to provide development opportunities for members that are willing to advance on their career or even change their field.

Projects: Career Transitions, Soft Skills Training, Technical Skills Training, Salary Survey


Job Support Committee

The job support team will increase the availability and awareness of job listings and hiring needs to our membership. The team will communicate with recruiters and hiring companies to put more job postings in front of our members who are seeking employment. The team will coordinate job search forums and individual company events to connect job seeking members with companies that are hiring. The team may also undertake a salary survey among bay area companies to determine standard comp for the jobs that are popular with CFA members.

Mentorship Committee

The objective of the membership Committee is to develop and implement all mentorship programs, Year-long Pairing, Speed-Monitoring and Day in the Life, and engage members to participate in both ends.

Professional Education Committee

The purpose of this committee is to provide meaningful Continuing Education content to members. We will work to ensure a broad range of topics are addressed to meet the varying needs of, and attract a larger audience from our diverse constituency. We will also seek to provide opportunities for members, employers and sponsors to present relevant high-quality educational content to our audiences. We will achieve these objectives through coordinating high-quality programming, qualifying – whenever able – for CE credits from our partner organizations.

Projects: General Continuing Education Events, School & Series, Vendor & Corporate Sponsored Programming.


Distinguished Speaker Committee

The Distinguished Speaker Series is a bi-annual event program featuring very high-profile speakers.  Care is given to identify topical presentations from industry VIPs, and solicit gratis engagements.  This team is purposely small, and works closely with Society Staff and Board Members, especially the Winter Panel Dinner committee to ensure avoidance of overlap and effective timing and promotion.
